The fact about the Dutch flag and our 'Orange' of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

I would say years years years ago, literary ages ago when Prince of Orange were in war with Spain in 1568 the first Dutch flag came along; orange, white and blue. The orange color signifying the Prince while white and blue were the colors of God. This flag was called; Prinsenvlag and expressed our fought for God and fatherland. But after 1630 the orange color of this flag was frequently rendered in red. At the time of 1796 following the French revolution the color orange was fixed to red. In 1937 this decision was repeated. There was a strong call to re-establish the orange stripe when the Dutch want to to relate to their monarchy they fly an orange pennant above the red-white-blue flag.
And this is why we all dress up in Orange and make our bead plates up with red-white-blue stripes!
